2008 Gun Hunting Season: Who Were the Hunters?

Of the 642,419 hunters this gun deer season: 94.3% were Wisconsin residents, 73,400 or 11.4% were youth (under the age of 18); 53,617 or 8.4% were Senior Citizens (65 years of age and older).
The number of female hunters continues to increase, representing 8.2% of the total number of deer hunters. A total of 52,497 females purchased a patron, sports or gun deer license (number includes residents and nonresidents) which is up from the 51,287 in 2007. Over 48% of the female hunters are under the age of 30 years.
